What is a Zipper Pull?

A Zipper Pull is a device allowing persons with limited function to fasten zippers on clothing[110]. Add some fun to your clothes, purse, luggage, or any boring zipper. These pulls allow you to easily use the zipper by extending the length of the slider. The braided horse hair dangles from the attached metal lanyard spring clip so you can find and open or close your zipper in extreme conditions with ease. The zipper pull is great for those with arthritis, weakness, injury or other disability. The spring clip can be attached (and detached) in seconds onto any regular zipper lock with bare hands requiring no special tools or skills.

What is Horse Hair?

Horsehair is the long, coarse hair growing on the manes and tails of horses. Horsehair can be very stiff or very fine and flexible, mane hair is generally softer and shorter than tail hair. The texture of horsehair can be influenced by the breed and management of the horse, including natural conditions such as diet or climate[55]. Horse hair is the only kind of hair that is harvested without killing the animal. The hair comes from the mane or tail. Think of it as a haircut. The barber doesn’t kill you to lower your ears[56]. Horse hair is strong. Items made from it lasts for years, if not decades!

What is a Horse Hair Tassel?

The tassel (plural tassels) is a ball-shaped bunch of plaited hairs from which at one end protrudes a cord on which the tassel is hung, and which may have loose, dangling hairs at the other end[58]. Tassels a finishing decoration on hat bands, key rings and zipper pulls. They are a universal ornament that is seen in varying versions in many cultures around the globe[59]. Every tassel includes a horse hair knot.

What are Horse Hair Knots?

Knots cover areas where items are sewn or glued. Knots are decorative as well as functional[57]. The knot, sometimes called a button, also stops the braid from unraveling similar to a rubber band on a French braid.

What is French Braid?

The French braid hairstyle has been used for thousands of years. It is the simplest form of braiding using three groups of hair[42]. Braid is the symbol of strength and unity. The term French braid is used on the human head because of the various lengths of hair involved[43]. French braid starts with three small sections of hair near the crown of the head, which are then braided together toward the nape of the neck, gradually adding more hair to each section as it crosses in from the side into the center of the braid structure. These are actually a simple three strand braid where all the hair is initially divided into three equal sections where one outside strand across the center strand and then pass the other one across the center one.

What are Beads?

A bead is a small, decorative object that is formed in a variety of shapes and sizes of a material such as stone, bone, shell, glass, plastic, wood or pearl and with a small hole for threading or stringing. Beads are known to be one of the earliest forms of trade between the human race. It is thought that is because of bead trading that humans developed language. Beads are said to have been used and traded for most of our history. The oldest beads found to date were at Ksar Akil, in Lebanon. Prior to this find, the beads found in the Blombos Cave were the oldest at about 72,000 years old[5]. Round is the most common shape of beads. The shape of the round beads lay together and is pleasing to the eye.

What is Etched Bone?

Etched Bone or Scrimshaw is scrollwork, engravings, and carvings done in bone. Scrimshaw is a fairly simple process. It can be done with a variety of sharp pointed tools and colors and almost any smooth, relatively hard material can be used[34].
